  • What is Life is Preciousâ„¢?
    LIP is an afterschool and weekend program, developed by Comunilife for Latina teens, who are having problems coping with life at home or school.
  • Where does LIP take place?
    LIP centers are located in the Bronx, Brooklyn, Queens and Washington Heights.
  • When does LIP take place?
    LIP is open from 3:30 – 7:30 pm weekday afternoons and 10:00 am to 2:00 pm on Saturdays. The days of the week depend on the program site.
  • Who can join LIP?
    You are eligible for LIP if: 1) You are a Latina teen between the ages of 12 and 17, 2) you regularly attend school, 3) you are under the care of mental health professional or willing to see one, and 4) have your parents’/guardians’ permission. LIP provides a safe and accepting space for LGBTQ teens.
  • How much does the program cost?
    All services provided at LIP are free.
  • What will I do there?
    LIP provides a variety of activities including academic support (help with school), creative arts therapy (music, art, poetry, dance), wellness activities (exercise, healthy eating/cooking), and family services.
  • Do I have to attend the program every day?
    No, you can attend once a week, once a month or every day. Whatever is best for you.
